PURPOSE
This drill works on concepts of angling, body contact, and escaping immediate pressure.
FOCUS
- Using speed to beat an opponent
- Angling/body contact
HOW TO
- One line of players just inside the blue, two cones about 4 feet away in a N-S line. Coach nearby with pucks.
- First two players in skate forwards to cones without pucks – first around high cone, second around low cone.
- Coach gives puck to player 1, who looks to return the puck, get to space and get the puck back again to start the 1v1.
EXTEND
- Modify defense pressure – more pressure or less depending on the skill level of the players and the desired outcome
