PURPOSE
Working on agility, edge control, and heads up skating.
FOCUS
- Edge control
- Agility while maintaining speed
- Heads up looking for asteroids from any direction
HOW TO
- To start, all players line up along the goal line and all coaches, with pucks, along the boards.
- On the whistle, players skate from the goal line to the blue line while the coaches attempt to pass pucks at them. SHINS AND BELOW, BUT AIM FOR SKATES FIRST!
- If a player is hit, they join one side of coaches or the other and they are now “shooting asteroids” at the skaters.
- Players, do not argue about a call if a coach says you’ve been hit.
- Play until there is no one left or as long as you want.
EXTENEND
- Add additional obstacle in the skate area like cones or boarder patrols
- Change what players have to do when they skate like always backwards, or have to continuously do cross overs
