Double Screen-Tip-Rebound
PURPOSE
Point shot distribution and net front presence.
HOW TO
*Note: Drill will be run out of both corners alternating. Description is only for one side.*
- Players in both corners and two at the point. Pucks in both corners and pile of pucks behind the net.
- Player from corner passes out to D.
- D swings to the other D. At the same time, player from corner goes to the front of the net and posts up for the screen, tip, & rebound.
- D takes shot – low and tipable.
- Once shot is taken and played, forward releases to back of net, picks up puck. At the same time, D shifts.
- Player passes to D at point, who swings while the passing player goes back to the front of the net for a second screen-tip-rebound.
FOCUS
- Long point passes
- ON NET tipable shots
- Screening the goalie. Players will have a tendency to stand to one side or the other, not screening. Most common excuse will be either they don’t want to be hit with the puck or so they can “see” the shot better. Screening creates traffic and chaos and obstructs the goalie’s vision.
