Andover 2v1

PURPOSE

Angling and forcing the play defensively and offensively driving wide and converting the back side read.

SKILLS

• Wide net drive
• Angling to body if possible
• Containing and/or creating shooting angles
• Making a decision sooner
• Taking the shot when available

HOW TO

• Same as Andover 1v1, but a second “forward” goes at the same time as the first. The second “forward” traverses the blue line and looks mid slot to back post for a pass & shot from first “forward.”
• Players go on whistle.

FOCUS

• Angling to the point of contact or forcing the play to minimize the passing angle to the slot.
• As with the other variation, make sure the “forward” is not driving straight to the net and the “d” is not doing the same.
• “Forward” 2 needs to read the speed of the other forward and the angle of the “D” to adjust their depth, speed, and angle to be an option.

VARIATIONS

• Have wide forward wheel or escape and pass to 2 higher in the zone
• Have wide forward use a post-up at the blue line then become the trailer
